Here is a quick update from our house. We have had a busy few weeks - I worked two regular five day weeks (commuting 3 hours a day), instead of my regular 3 day work week. Now that my work schedule is back to 3 days a week, I have time for a quick blog post. Here is Martin having fun in the exersaucer at Grammy and Grampy's house. He was sitting there while the rest were making popcorn balls.
We had our first snow! We didn't get much and it is long gone now, but here is a shot of the Kale and the snow.
Here are a few shots of the Halloween costumes. Ryan and I don't normally dress up, but since we were taking the kids trick or treating this year, Ryan decided to dress up. Here his is as the church lady from SNL:
Lizzie went as Elmo this year. Here she is loading up her treat bag.
Martin got in the act this year as well, as a skunk. As soon as we put him in his carseat, he fell asleep for the night. I am glad we got this photo before we left!
After stopping at a few houses, we went to the local fire house where they give out ice cream and popcorn, etc. What a fun time! As Uncle John is on the fire department, Lizzie got a close look at the fire trucks and got to sit inside one!
We have been trying to get some pictures of the kids for our Christmas card, and as a result have a lot of pictures of the kids together with only one smiling, one looking in the right direction, etc. We haven't given up completely - we will try again with a little more help in a week or so. Here are two of the pictures from our most recent attempt. This photo of Martin reminds me of how much hair he has! He is changing so much every day. He is sleeping through the night most nights now on his own. He is eating lots of different solid foods and has a pretty good grasp on "Mama" and "Dada", though he doesn't always say them at the right time. He is using the sign for "more" and sometimes will wave bye bye. He is so even tempered and happy most of the time. What a smile he has!
This next one is out of order, but here is a look at the snow at camp. Not as much as in the garden, but enough to have fun with!
When did Lizzie get so grown up? She is such a helper these days. She has been helping Grampy with his deliveries and helping Daddy move and stack the firewood. She loves being read to and is able to remember many of the words to her favorite books (Stone Soup, for example).
We are starting to get geared up for the Christmas tree season here - another week or so and it will be time to start selling trees. We have our last adoption post placement scheduled this week (time to get the place cleaned up!) and hope to finalize Martin's adoption soon (mid December, if all goes well). This will be such a big day for our whole family.
Even the little girls were in the kitchen trying to help out.
That is, until Uncle Chris took all three kids out sledding (Michael, Maddie and Lizzie).

I also recently celebrated my birthday. In the middle of the night when I was feeding Martin, I noticed these lovely pipe cleaner decorations on the coffee table. So cute! (Lizzie did the top, Ryan the bottom).
Grampy helped me get a few balsam boughs for my planters. While we were in the woods, Lizzie got a chance to climb a tree! Grampy had to convince her not to climb out of his reach (it took a lot of convincing! She was having fun). Martin watched from the padded ground.
Earlier on this same day, I took the kids for a bit of a walk. Here is Lizzie in front of the enormous garlic patch. There is garlic planted under that hay (I asked her to stand there for some perspective on the size). That is a lot of garlic!
Now time to get ready for some snow headed our way tomorrow. Stay safe and warm!
