1 week

Today is Elizabeth Marie's one-week birthday. Happy Birthday Lizzie! We made it to Louisiana at about 2:00 last Wednesday and were able to bring her home from the hospital (home being our hotel room) on Thursday. We have been having a lot of fun with her and have been learning a lot as we go. She has her first pediatrician checkup today and then we have plans to have dinner with the BMom and her family tonight (we are going to try some real cajun food). We don't know yet when we will be able to come home (not until the states of LA and ME give us clearance - it shouldn't take too long) so we are trying to enjoy our time here. We haven't done any sightseeing yet, but we are hoping to go to New Orleans tomorrow and maybe see downtown Baton Rouge as well. Luckily she seems to ride very well in the car. I will post some pics when we get back to Maine.

We are headed to Louisiana! I have no idea when we will be able to post again, but stay tuned and keep your fingers crossed for us!

End of April

I thought I should post this dog picture - right before I took this, I told the dogs to look bored. They did a pretty nice job, I think. I really took this picture to show the size difference -and Brinks is big for his breed!
No official adoption news to report, but the baby is due soon! We have finally starting packing our bags :)

Spring!

Now that tax day has come and gone (with lots of celebration with my co-workers, though as an auditor, my busy time ended a little sooner than for the tax people) we can start really enjoying this nice weather! I don't have new pics to post, so I am posting this pic from last summer as a reminder of how green things will soon be around our house.


No new adoption news - we continue to talk with the expectant mom on a regular basis and things seem to be going fine with her pregnancy. It is still looking like the very end of April or the first week or so in May before the baby will be born. We are very excited to meet the expectant mom and her family - and I know they are anxious to meet us as well.

In other baby news - congratulations to Emily and Casey on the birth of their new baby boy!!

Work

I was surprised at work yesterday with a cake and baby presents. They gave us these pictures, a pack-n-play, baby blankets, etc. It was very thoughtful and sweet and so fun! I think these pictures look great in the room.

Nothing else to report - I have been researching cloth diapers - we plan to use cloth once we get home from Louisiana and there are a lot of options to choose from!

Nursery

Ryan setup the crib and the nursery this afternoon - it is looking great! We thought our parents would especially like to see the pics (thanks for the furniture parents!):


Now we just need to buy the bumper, etc and it will look great! We are going to wait a little bit before we buy much more - but it is fun to pick it out!

In other news - I bought curtains for our bedroom (as you can tell from the creases, I still need to iron them). I was going to make them, but I couldn't find the exact fabric that I was looking for and these were inexpensive. Now we have privacy and natural light.

Maine

We have been in pursuit of a book about Maine that shows all the seasons, shows the coast and interior Maine and that can really show what it is like to live here (we are sending this to the BMom on the Agencies advice as she is interested in knowing what it is like here). We knew we had found the right book when we saw that it showed all 4 seasons of Maine and when we came to this picture:
This is the UM Band back when Ryan and I were in college (you can see Ryan's gloved hand on the bottom right and half of my face on the top right). A lot of our friends from college are in this picture too! I am going to send the book today. (I should probably site the book - but I don't have it right here and I am sure they didn't have permission from these people to put the picture in the book, so I think we can call it even).
