Folk Festival, etc

We are almost done with August - one last post before September! This weekend we had a great time at the folk festival - we got to hear another great Cajun band play. It was very crowded, so Ryan gave Lizzie the bird's eye view (best seat in the house).

Here are a couple pics from last weekend - we went to a fundraiser in Lamoine and enjoyed some great views!

Today we got started on our firewood - it is hard to believe that fall is on it's way!

blueberries!

This past weekend we went blueberry raking in Stockton Springs with Mimi and Grampy Gary. Lizzie nearly ate her bodyweight in blueberries - I think she likes them! It was a hot day, but she coped really well. We finished off the morning with a nice meal in Belfast.
When I say that "we" were raking blueberries, I mean the other three adults raked while Lizzie and I did our best to keep away from stinging creatures and rotten berries.

Mimi helped Lizzie find some of the best berries in the field.

I grabbed this picture by mistake (I keep doing that!) - you can tell from the fleece PJs that this was taken more than a few months ago! She is changing so fast!

August 9

We have had a busy and fun-filled weekend. Kate and John had a delayed wedding reception at the farm on Saturday, complete with a live-band, bonfire and campers and tenters. We had a wonderful time! Here she is today enjoying a slice of peach - this is the first time that she has shown any interest in a peach, we will definitely be giving them to her often! She also ate her first corn on the cob tonight - she did a great job and really loved it! More of that to follow this summer, I think.
I didn't mean to upload this picture - I must have grabbed the wrong one - this is from weeks ago, but it is a nice picture so I will leave it here.

Here is some tent setup at the farm - we were able to clean out the back barn for a dance floor, etc and had two smaller tents for food/beer/wine.

Here are Ryan and Lizzie right before the party - Grammie Susie goes tulle happy at these parties and has therefore tied a tulle bow around Lizzie like a belt (with a bow in back of course - she won't always be okay with a butt bow, I think). Both dogs sported tulle bows around their collars as well. Very festive!

Lizzie was a great sport and fell soundly asleep at her regular bedtime. If only the rest of us could say the same!

August

I can't believe it is August already! Today we had a nice brunch at camp to visit with aunts and uncles on my Mom's side of the family in honor of Sarah, Mike & Allie's visit from Illinois. We always look forward to their visits. Luckily it was warm enough to go swimming! Here is Kate, Maddie, Aunt Laurie, Ryan and Lizzie (and Brinkley - can't forget the blog namesake).
Lizzie has had her first real fever this weekend - started on Thursday. She was a little better yesterday, hopefully she is slowly coming out of it now!

Here is Aunt Laurie and Maddie. Maddie is 5 or so months older than Lizzie and it is fun to see her reach milestones and think that Lizzie is not far behind! You should see her walk down the stairs all by herself!

Nellie was glad to be of use today - here she is "rescuing" Michael, Allie and Mike. Michael and Maddie's dog Sammy and Tom and Char's dog bullet also did a bit of rescuing today
